More Singles vs Doubles Action
In April the ATP announced new, exciting changes to enhance the product for fans and players. One of the major changes being trialled at select tournaments is an increase in singles vs doubles action. The draw will feature up to 16 slots reserved for teams entering via their singles ranking, resulting in more unmissable clashes between the world’s top doubles and singles players!
Quicker Shot Clock and Faster Changeovers
A second key change to look out for is a faster shot clock! Time between points will be reduced and fewer sit downs will be introduced to accelerate the pace of play. This will be implemented by reducing the shot clock down to 15 seconds following rallies shorter than four shots and 25 second for points lasting over four shots.
A Streamlined Schedule
The schedule has also been amended for the doubles to build excitement and make the format easier to follow. The full doubles schedule will be played solely during Week Two, providing a streamlined schedule for fans and players.
