Mutua Madrid Open

3 - 10 MAY 2020

The Mutua Madrid Open transitioned from hard court to clay in 2009 and is staged at the Caja Magica - the Magic Box. The tournament regularly attracts some of the best players on the ATP World Tour, and past champions include Andre Agassi, Marat Safin, Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray. 2018 saw Alexander Zverev add his name to this illustrious list, by overcoming Dominic Thiem 6-4, 6-4 in the final. The victory marks a third ATP Masters 1000 title in the young German's career. But Zverev wasn't able to defend his crown in 2019, the latest edition belonged to Novak Djokovic, who beat Stefanos Tsitsipas in straight sets to secure a record equaling 33rd Masters 1000 crown. Due to the global outbreak of COVID-19, this year’s tournament will not proceed as scheduled.
