5) Stefanos Tsitsipas vs Roger Federer (SF)
Another coming-of-age victory against the Swiss for Tsitsipas after their epic in Australia this year. Although Federer had twice defeated the 21-year-old since – most recently in a magnificent display in Basel – Tsitsipas overwhelmed him here with a flawless baseline performance. 4) Rafael Nadal vs Daniil Medvedev (RR)
It was a rematch of one of the greatest US Open finals of all time – and it did not disappoint. Both players had suffered upsets in the opening round and were determined to rescue their chances. Medvedev was nerveless from the outset and played some of the devastating tennis that has made him the form player of the past four months. But you can never rule out Rafael Nadal – and what unfolded was a truly memorable match!
3) Rafael Nadal vs Stefanos Tsitsipas (RR)
The Spaniard needed to win to keep his qualification hopes alive, but Tsitsipas was top of the group and in formidable form. The Greek notched his first win over Nadal this year in Madrid and exorcised a few demons after that chastening semi-final defeat in Melbourne. Could the rising star do it again against the World No.1?
2) Dominic Thiem vs Novak Djokovic (RR)
Match of the tournament? The last time these two met at the Finals, Thiem clinched the first set with a stunning 12-10 tiebreak before Djokovic took control. But a lot has changed since then, with Thiem winning three of their last four encounters. They had all been on clay, but the World No.5 played a different brand of tennis here – aggressive, powerful and with deft net play. Thiem had the five-time ATP Finals champion on the ropes. but Djokovic responded with some outstanding tennis here. Certainly one of the best matches of 2019.
1) Dominic Thiem vs Stefanos Tsitsipas (Final)
An instant classic as the two outstanding players of the week fought tooth and nail for the biggest title of their careers. Thiem had won four of the pair’s six meetings, including recently in the final of Beijing when he crushed Tsitsipas in the deciding set. In a match full of suspense, emotion and grit, a packed crowd saw the third deciding tie-break in the history of the ATP season-finale. Relive a memorable night in London right now!
